Re: Application to the Show

Hey guys,

After watching your show I felt the need to contact you about my stepdad.  He owns a '32 Ford Model B convertible, and has been working on it for years.

Our story:

I met my stepdad when I was 5 years old.  I never knew my biological father because he left the scene before I was born.  My mom was hard to live with during their marriage, and she hurt him badly. When I was 14 years old, she left him.  He was devastated and our family split up. He and my young half-sister went one way while me and my mother went another way.

My stepdad is a great man who commits himself to the people he loves.  He has been a truck driver for 30 plus years, working ridiculous hours to support his new family.  He is a phenomenal father to me and my half-sister, and today's young men could learn valuable lessons about fatherhood from him.  I am a father now, and I try to be the best dad to my son because of my stepdad's influence in my life.  He helped make me what I am today, and his commitment will carry over into my son's life.

Ever since my stepdad was a boy, he has been fascinated with hot rods.  He and his brother built cars out of their garage in their youth.   I recall one day, when he and my mom were still together, that he sold his favorite hot rod ('57 Chevy Nomad) that he'd been fixing up so that we could have money for food and bills.  For as long as I can recall, my stepdad has always made huge sacrifices for others.  He even passed up a scholarship to Yale to stay near his family and give them support.  He has always stayed in touch with me even though my mom and he are split up.  He has given me the best advice and guidance over the years.  He is the main reason that I went to college (now I have a Masters degree) when nobody else in my own family gave me much support.  He backed me financially and always put my needs and the needs of the people he loves ahead of his own.

My stepdad has been tinkering with a 1932 Ford Model B Convertible for several years now.  He is absolutely in love with this car, but bills and the needs of his family consistently take priority over his plans for this hot rod.

I pray that Mr. Foose and everyone at Overhaulin' can help make my stepdad's dream of having a kickass hot rod become a reality.

Sincerely,

TL

Re: Application to the Show

I am writing to tell you about my future son-in-law Scott and his dad's Mustang.  His dad died about 10 years ago.  He had 3 sons and 3 toys.  The boat he left to Scott's older brother.  The truck he drove all the time he left to Scott's younger brother.  The 1965 Mustang was left to Scott, because from the time that Scott could remember he and his dad were going to restore it together.  His dad died before they could finish the Mustang.  Scott has kept it all these years.  Hoping to someday fix it up.
It is a concept that a lot of young men have.  My husband did the same thing with an old Chevelle, he finally sold it, never did fix it up.  I would hate to see that happen to Scott.  It is the only thing he has that was his dad's.
Now Scott and my daughter will be getting married in 2011.  And they recently bought a house.  So you know where all the extra monty will be going.  I can see that 10 years from now that Scott's Mustang will still be sitting in their garage waiting to be fixed up.

I am Scott's future mother-ini-law and am making a plea to you to help us get this car restored in time for their wedding on 6/11/2011.  It really is an amazing story and I think it would make a very good Overhaulin show.  Scotts friends and family have banned together to get Scott and his dad's MUSTANG on your show.  We willl all be writing you and sending in the application.  PLEASE CONSIDER Scott and his dad's MUSTANG for one of your shows.

Sincerely,
Scott's future mother-in-law

Re: Application to the Show

Overhaulin'

I would like to nominate my close friends 1985 Ram-charger that's seen better days. He went to Wyotech for diesel technician, and was put out of work for shortly after graduating. He had two kids since then and had to park his truck at my place and always keeps talking about plans to rebuild it and put new life into it. The first thing I helped him with was a 1 am sanding and paint job in a bad lighting to paint it black for him before he had to go to work. He keeps coming over to start it and always looks down and out every time he looks at it. Its more work then he could ever afford at this time. Now that his second child came along. I really hope to see that his Ram-charger Overhauled. It would really turn around his out look in life.

Thanks,
Johnny

Re: Application to the Show

Dear Chip and the Overhaulin team. My father had for 35 years sought out a 1970 GTO Judge Orbit Orange from a good friend in Michigan. This friend of his blew the engine on the car in 1975 and it sat in storage for 25 years. Due to his friends other projects, he has moved the car from storage and placed it under a pine tree for 10 years. During that time my father has attempted on several occasions to purchase the car with no avail until last year. After 35 years of pursuit, my father finally obtained his dream. In order to purchase the car, my father had to trade a rust free 66 Lemans body shell, plus cash, and needed my uncle to partner with him otherwise he could not afford it. After about six months of trying to restore the car, I had the opportunity to buy out my uncle and my father and I are attempting to restore this historic car to its original beauty. This project means a lot to my father and I as it has really brought us together and has made up for lost time. My father is a wonderful father. He has supported 8 kids and a wonderful wife working 7 days a week up until he was forced to retire due to a freak accident on the job. So one could imagine how he may not have been around much. He never complained and loved us all and produced 8 wonderful children with good heads on their shoulders. Since the two of us partnered up, we discovered the car was worse off than we thought.  To date the car and frame has been bead blasted, primed, and floors replaced by a body shop in Warren, MI. The car needs new quarters installed which we have but not installed, new original doors which need work, patch panels for both fenders, and a new deck lid which we have. It could probably use a new trunk floor pan and it needs metal and body work in other areas. We have a Ram Air III engine but it is not the original and off a couple months on the date codes. However, we are pretty much out of money and it will sit for some time until we are able to come up with more money. My father is retired and does not have much money coming in. The only extra money from my father contribution is coming from anything he can sell. My funds are limited as I have other obligations and debts I am trying to pay down. Any extra money I have will go to the car. This has been my father’s dream for 35 years and this would be a fantastic gift to a loving father and husband. The family would be so grateful and appreciative to your consideration for a slot on your show. I have uploaded some of the progress of the restoration on photobucket which can be view at: http://s375.photobucket.com/albums/oo19 … %20Photos/

Re: Application to the Show

Chip and the Overhaulin Team.  Have I got a challenge for you.  My wife owns a 1999 GMC Yukon that she absolutely loves but it is getting old, worn, and tired.  The paint is fading and it is looking it's age.  However, she loves it and does not want to give it up.  She has no idea that I am submitting an application to Overhaulin.

Here is the challenge for you if you decide to accept it.  She is currently employed by the local police department and has been so employed for the past 30 years.  She currently works in the Auto Theft Unit as an office specialist and does case management and data entry into the State "Stolen Vehicle System" (SVS).  So your challenge would be to obtain her vehicle under the normal "theft" ruse without her finding out about it!  If you can pull this one off you and your crew would deserve an Emmy as well as an Academy award.  Hope you are up to the challenge!

Thanks for your consideration,

Steve

Re: Application to the Show

I am trying to get my man's 1978 CJ7 jeep on the show.  He is the greatest guy, dad, coach anyone could ever hope to know.  He's had this jeep for years and has been rebuilding it and re-doing it for most of his life.  It is currently not running and because he cares about me and the children so much more then he does himself it's currently just sitting in the garage.  He has the worse luck, and everytime he seems to be able to get something done on the jeep, something else comes up and he gets knocked back a few feet.  He never complains though and he has the best attitude.  He even spent Christmas time making sure another family had presents under their tree even though things were tight for us.  He coaches junior football and offers his time and services to anyone that needs them.  He is truly deserving of an overhaul and I would love for someone to take him into consideration.

Re: Application to the Show

My husband has been watching this show for so long, And i would love to get his 93 Ford Bronco overhauled. See jason 24 is going through some hard times right now. He is battling cancer for the third time and right now the only activity he can do with our two young boys is going out and having fun in the dessert with his bronco. It really is like one of his kids before he found out he had cancer he was putting every last penny we had to making it everything he wanted it to be. He has put a 6 inch lift on it put a roof rack bigger tires a super chip a brush guard and headers. But there is so much more he wants to do with it. I know that he wants to have it done before he cant drive it all and he plans on passing it down to our oldest son. I would really appreciate it if you guys would consider overhaulin his bronco for him. He is the best father and husband and man anyone can ask for. He helps anyone he can with whatever we have and thats not much right now. So please consider my husband for the show. This is one of those things on his bucket list. And i know he is way to young to have to worry about that but when you have un-curable cancer thats all he thinks about and he would love to have something he is proud of to pass down to his boys. Thank you for listing if you have any questions about him or you need to contact me my email is kiminnv@yahoo.com

Re: Application to the Show

Hello,
I'm hoping you can help me. My husband is a big fan of your show. He drives a 1999 Chevy Blazer. He has always wanted an older truck. Hopefully some day we'll be able to get one for him to fix up. Right now if you could over haul his Blazer I'd so appreciate it. These past few years have been really hard on the family. I have lost both my parents to cancer. My dad being the most recent in 2008. Then in January of 2009 I was diagnosed with Fallopian Tube Cancer. This came to us as such a shock. Thank god I'm in remission but this has really taken a toll on us! We have used most of our saving to pay the unpaid doctor bills. The Blazer could really use a good face lift! It has been a good vehicle to us. We'd like to get a nice camper but it could never pull it. We also have a Jeep Liberty that pulls our pop up right now. The problem with that is I have what's called neuropathy which I got from the chemo treatments. It's hard for us to put it up and down. So, if you could make the Blazer over we might be able to get another camper someday. I'm sorry I'm babbling on and on but my husband has been my hero and rock this past year. I just wish I could get him his truck...but that's not going to happen right now and I think this would be the next best thing to do! Thank you for your time and I hope you consider us for your show.
Sincerely,
Shelley

Re: Application to the Show

Hi there,  OVERHAULIN' TEAM!
Military husbands rarely have time to fix things around the house, let alone fix their "Classic, Sentimental, Monumental, 1972 Chevy Cheyenne Pickup trucks."  We have already spent plenty of money to make it run smooth and to be a reliable vehicle, however, the constant fixing and tinkering seems costly and never-ending.  I want him to sell it but he won't part with it.  He says "Ol' Blue is a symbol of his vitality". The truck has been in his family for over 15 years.

Please take away his Ol' Blue and transform it into something that is a "true symbol of vitality."

Thank you,
Kyriopoulos

Re: Application to the Show

My name is Judy and I am writing for my husband, Bill.  We have been married 20 years, we have one child (19).  In the last 4 years everything has been turned upside down for us.  In 2006 we lost all our belongings in a house fire.  He almost lost his 1985 Olds 442, it was stored in the carport next to the house.  In 2008 and 2009 he started having problems ( diabetic related) with his feet .  He started losing toes on his left foot and on July 23, 2009 they amputated his left leg below the knee.  He finally got his prosthetic in April 2010 and in June we noticed that there was some drainage on the right foot, second toe.  On July 19, 2010, they removed the second and third toe on his right foot.  He has tried to keep his spirits up but it has been extremely hard.  The problem is that in 2007 he located and brought home his grandfathers 1972 GMC pickup.  The truck is all original (with exception of wheels) down to the 3-speed on the column.  He only got to drive the truck a few months before they started removing toes,  now he is unable to drive it at all due to the clutch.  On December 2, 2009, his father passed away suddenly and Bill almost gave up all hope and will to live, because his dad was always there when Bill needed him.  Dad had planned to help Bill put in a automatic transmission and help him to redo this truck.  Due to continuing medical bills and medicines, our funds are depleted and we are trying to help send our son to college for diesel mechanics.  I would like nothing better than to get him some help getting this truck where he can once again drive it,  I don't know what else to do.  He watches Overhaulin' daily,  it would tickle him to death and maybe give him some hope if there was any way you could help him out.  He is a very proud man and does not like to ask for help.  Please could you help..

Thank you for your time and consideration from a great fan in central Kentucky.

Re: Application to the Show

Dear overhaulin', My name is Brian. I would really love it if you could overhaul my wife's car. She has got a 1977 Chevy Nova Rally that is a retired police issue. It even contains the original 383 stroker motor in it. The Car has minimal damage and is very restore-able. I would really love to see her baby restored. She is a big fan of yours and it would make her smile so much to have it fixed. She has done what she could concerning her health issues. She has stood by me through a lot. Now I would love to see her dream of getting her car restored come true. My wife never asks for much, so this would be the most awesome gift I could think of. Thank you very much for your consideration. If I had a way to post a pic on here I would. Thanks again.
